Barrington’s work focuses on societal issues that predominantly gay men are faced with or apart of. Influenced by personal experiences that began at 16 in his hometown of Ellesmere Port. Barrington’s identity as a gay man is central in his work, he has explored the dynamics that exist within his identity and the queer community, including ideas of gender and power.

After moving to London, his involvement in the queer community expanded and exposed him to the issues that inspire his practise. The experiences voiced in his work aim to create conversations. Barrington values the engagement between the audience and his work, aiming to transport the audience into his headspace, allowing them to gain a greater understanding of the importance of the work being produced. Audiences with similar experiences can relate and reflect. The work also serves as a tool to educate those who cannot relate, providing an understanding of what others in society are faced with based on their gender, sexuality, or roots.

Barrington’s purpose as an emerging artist/designer is to educate his audience on overlooked social issues, to bring awareness and reduce the negative impact these issues commonly have on the LGTBTQ+ community.
